Description
The Aeroflex High Speed Digital Pattern Generator (DPG) family provides the highest word rates and deepest memory digital signal sources available today. The DPG combines a wide selection of digital output modules with very deep digital memory. The DPGs have word rates to 1300 MHz, word widths to 32 bits (expandable to 128 bits using multiple modules) and pattern depths to 16 GBytes. Digital outputs include LVDS, DECL, PECL, TTL, LVCMOS, and RS-485. The pattern memory is segmentable, with programmable sequencing providing an almost unlimited combination of output patterns and lengths. All of these features make the DPG an excellent tool for testing high speed digital processors, high rate DACs, digital input power amplifiers and basestation processors, digital input SDR and legacy radio elements, and other devices and systems that require high speed digital input stimulus. Multiple modules can be combined and synchronized in a single system for a highly flexible mixed signal test set. An open software defined instrument architecture allows easy imports of user created waveforms and patterns. Complex digital waveform representations of analog signals can be created over multiple frames using the Vector Signal Simulator software (VSS). The result is the digital output equivalent of an RF signal generator. Digital representations can be created for commercial wireless standards as well as generic nPSK, nQAM, nFSK, MSK, CW, tone combs, and notched noise signals. Any of these generic signal types can be gated or bursted in time, as well as hopped in frequency across the full BSG bandwidth. Real signals, including recorded signals from Aeroflex's Broadband Signal Analyzers, High Speed Digital Data Recorders/Analyzers, or other recorder sources, can be imported and combined with digitally generated signals, and then played back on the BSG. Impairments can be added to the signals including thermal noise, phase noise, and passband amplitude and phase distortion. VSS provides the unique ability to mix any combination of signals and impairments to generate complex signal environments. Aeroflex's Vector Signal Player software (VSP) provides simple controls for signal file selection, output frequency control and output power control. Aeroflex's up converters use real (non-I/Q) conversion architectures, generating high dynamic range waveforms without the carrier leakage and signal image problems associated with traditional RF signal generators.
